About Success Education Colleges (SEC)

Success Education Colleges (SEC) is a family of institutions including North-West College, Glendale Career College, Nevada Career Institute, and Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing. For over 58 years, SEC has been a leader in allied health education, offering quality, affordable training programs that prepare students for rewarding careers in healthcare.

SEC is currently seeking highly qualified Registered Nurses to teach part-time LIVE Clinical rotations. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach clinical at well-known, established hospitals and medical facilities.

Saturday and Sunday schedule. Must be flexible to work both 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Must be able to start immediately
  • Commute to clinical sites in the Bakersfield area required.
  • LVN $45
  • RN $50

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accept complete responsibility for students in the clinical facility
  • Teach a course load as assigned, including preparation for and instruction of clinical laboratory
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning
  • Clarify daily clinical expectations with students during pre-conference
  • Clarify student placement and expectations with clinical facility staff
  • Make patient/student assignments that meet both clinical objectives and patient needs
  • Direct students in data collection and integration into their clinical paperwork; provide resources to students to ensure critical thinking through the nursing process
  • Coordinate a daily plan with Clinical site to best observe, instruct, and evaluate students
  • Direct post conference to ensure application of theoretical content to clinical experiences; provide opportunities for students to share learned experiences and verbalize feelings
  • Evaluate student progress and give feedback weekly; provide clear objectives for improvement as needed
  • Provide immediate feedback of clinical performance following observation of skills

LAB INSTRUCTION:

The instructor will oversee and facilitate laboratory sessions for students in the lab. This role involves providing hands-on instruction, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and inquiry.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse - current active license in the state of California
  • Previous teaching experience, preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills
  • Functional abilities to carry out classroom, clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities
  • Competence in clinical skills in areas of teaching
  • Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email

Education:

Registered Nurses

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse with 5 years’ experience in the specialty field
  • 1 year of experience as a Clinical Instructor preferred but not required.

Licensed Vocational Nurses

  • Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree with 6 years' experience required

OR

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with 2 years' experience required (any type of degree)
