Description

The  Lead Cardiac Sonographer  reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • A clinically competent echocardiography sonographer who assumes the coordination of echo services. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The echocardiography technician performs inpatient and outpatient echocardiography procedures as ordered by a physician. These echo procedures include: 2-D, M-Mode echocardiography, pulsed, continuous wave, color and tissue doppler procedures on the adult patient population. Pediatric and neonate experience preferred, but not required. Assists with stress echocardiography and transesophageal echo procedures.
  • Responsible for the coordination of daily workflow, echo procedural and staffing scheduling.
  • Oversees echo staff, new employee and intern training and competencies
  • Assists with inventory management and charge capture.
  • All functions of this role shall be performed within the guidelines of the department and hospital policies. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate Degree of Science
  • Graduate from accredited cardiac ultrasound program
  • Active ARDMS or CCI Echo registry status
  • 3 years hospital based doppler echocardiography, transesophogeal and stress echocardiography experience. Must demonstrate imaging skills.
  • BLS Certified
  • Computer application aptitude, medical equipment touchpads, obtaining blood pressures.
  • Must be flexible to scheduling changes including scheduled overtime, weekend, holiday and on call hours.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required to provide effective leadership and to share complex information with physicians, administration and others related to the CV product line.

Preferred:

  • Experience as lead technician or relief charge preferred
  • Five years of adult doppler echocardiography, transesophageal and stress echocardiography experience
  • At least two years pediatric echocardiography experience recommended
