Patent Agent – Electrical Engineering & Computer Science

Direct Counsel is representing an Amlaw 100 firm seeking a mid-level Patent Agent to join its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group. This role is open to multiple offices, with preference for Washington, DC, or San Francisco.

The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution and hold a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics. The firm is particularly interested in candidates with experience drafting, filing, and prosecuting applications involving graphics processing units (GPUs), tensor processing units (TPUs), accelerators, neural engines, robotics circuitry, and actuators.

Qualifications:

  • Admission to the USPTO required

  • Undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) degree in EE, CE, CS, Software Engineering, or Physics

  • Strong law firm, engineering, or industry experience

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills

Compensation: $140,000 – $250,000 annually, depending on experience, plus discretionary bonus eligibility. The firm also offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, voluntary insurance options, 401(k), and paid time off.
