Computer Science Grad information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Computer Science Graduate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer Science Graduate, you need a solid understanding of programming languages, algorithms, data structures, and fundamental computer science concepts, typically gained through a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with development environments, version control systems like Git, and frameworks relevant to your specialization is often expected. Problem-solving, teamwork, and strong communication skills help you collaborate efficiently and adapt to evolving project requirements. These skills and qualities are crucial for building robust software solutions and succeeding in dynamic technology-driven workplaces.

What are some common entry-level positions for recent computer science graduates, and how do they typically collaborate within a team?

Recent computer science graduates often start in roles such as software engineer, QA analyst, IT support specialist, or junior web developer. In these positions, you'll usually work as part of a project team alongside more experienced engineers, designers, and sometimes product managers. Collaboration is key—you'll participate in code reviews, daily stand-up meetings, and pair programming sessions to learn best practices and contribute to shared goals. This team-oriented environment not only helps build technical skills but also offers mentorship opportunities and exposure to different aspects of software development.

What are Computer Science grads?

Computer Science grads are individuals who have completed a degree program in computer science, typically at the undergraduate or graduate level. They possess knowledge and skills in areas such as programming, algorithms, data structures, software engineering, and computer systems. These graduates are equipped to pursue careers in various tech fields including software development, data analysis, cybersecurity, and more. Their education often includes both theoretical foundations and practical experience with modern technologies.

What is the difference between Computer Science Grad vs Software Developer?

AspectComputer Science GradSoftware Developer
CredentialsDegree in Computer Science or related fieldOften requires a degree, but certifications and experience can suffice
Work EnvironmentAcademic settings, internships, entry-level rolesCorporate offices, tech companies, startups
Industry UsageEducational institutions, entry-level tech rolesProduct development, application building, coding tasks
Search & Comparison IntentEntry-level, educational background, career startPractical coding, project work, job opportunities

While a Computer Science Grad typically refers to someone with a degree in computer science, a Software Developer is a professional actively involved in coding and building software applications. Many Computer Science Grads pursue roles as Software Developers, but the latter emphasizes practical skills and work experience. Understanding this difference helps job seekers target the right roles and employers effectively.

Job description

At Secureframe, we are not just a company; we are at the forefront of revolutionizing cybersecurity compliance. Recognized as one of the industry's most innovative and trusted providers, Secureframe has consistently received accolades for our advanced technology solutions and commitment to excellence. With a robust portfolio of products that safeguard thousands of businesses worldwide, we have been featured in major publications such as Forbes' next billion dollar startups, TechCrunch, and The Wall Street Journal for our transformative impact on the way companies achieve and maintain compliance standards.

As we continue to grow, our mission remains clear: to provide seamless, secure solutions that enable businesses to focus on what they do best. Joining Secureframe means becoming part of a team dedicated to professional excellence and continuous learning in an environment that values creativity and forward-thinking.

Secureframe is backed by top VCs including Kleiner Perkins, Accomplice, Gradient Ventures (Google's AI Fund), BoxGroup, Village Global, and many more.

Secureframe is building the infrastructure that powers trust on the internet. We're looking for talented engineers who are obsessed with building. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and go-to-market. You'll use AI agents, LLMs, and automation to transform how Secureframe acquires, onboards, and supports customers.

This isn't a typical new grad role where you fix bugs for six months. You'll own real systems from day one.
This is a hybrid position based in New York City.

Secureframe highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. For office-based employees (employees who live within a defined radius of a Secureframe office), Secureframe considers working in the office, approximately 30% of the time under current policy, to be an essential function of the employee's role.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your dependent(s)
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401(k)
  • Paid family leave
  • Ground floor opportunity as an early member of the team
What you'll do
  • Build agentic workflows that power our go-to-market engine: outbound email sequences, lead scoring, customer onboarding, support ticket routing, and more
  • Ship production-quality code in Ruby and TypeScript across our stack
  • Design and integrate LLM-powered systems to solve real business problems
  • Own projects end-to-end: scope the problem, architect the solution, write the code, deploy it, and measure the impact
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to identify manual processes and build the agents that handle them
  • Move fast in a high-velocity engineering environment
Who we're looking for
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, physics, math, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of professional experience, including internships
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Ruby, TypeScript, or Python
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including RAG pipelines, multi-step agents, or AI-powered workflows
  • A strong track record of building side projects, open source contributions, or independent work that demonstrates initiative and follow-through
  • Production-minded: you write code that ships, and you care as much about getting it in front of users as you do about clean abstractions
  • Resourceful and self-directed - when you hit a wall, you find a way around it
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
$100,000 - $140,000 a year
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Secureframe is an equal opportunity employer. We aim to create an environment where every team member at Secureframe feels like they belong so they can have a greater impact on our business and customers. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

We've become aware of fraudulent job offers and recruiters falsely claiming to represent Secureframe.

Please note:
1. Official Communication: All genuine Secureframe recruiting communication and job offers are sent from @secureframe.com email addresses.
2. No Fees: We never ask for payments or fees from job applicants at any stage.
