About the role:
The Design Engineer A designs, develops, builds, and implements new components, products, or technologies.

What you will do:
  • Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents.
  • Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Develop and utilize project management skills
  • Execute agreed upon plan of actions to achieve project objectives.
  • Verify product / service expectations are being delivered in a timely manner.
  • Create installation models and drawings for standard price list material
  • Support and maintain installation model and drawing coverage
  • Promote and facilitate work group efficiencies while reviewing current process for areas of improvements.
  • Design, build, and develop new products, technologies, or services from concept through production.
  • Use CAD and 3D engineering tools to create, analyze, simulate, test, and optimize product designs and models.

What you will have:
Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
3D Software: Knowledge of the types, features and tools of 3D software; ability to use, implement, test and upgrade the software package in the process of 3D models production.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Additional requirements:
  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

Top candidates will also have:
  • Experience in installation model (3D) and drawing (2D) creation
  • Experience with Creo, Autodesk Inventor, 3D Evolution, or similar applications
  • Any experience with Caterpillar systems (e.g.: TMI, EDDC, Teamcenter, Oasis, CSQ)
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with peers
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively and lead RIWs.
  • Good written and verbal communication

Summary Pay Range:
$81,370.00 - $122,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
