Analyzes biological data using computational tools to extract meaningful insights and patterns for research and development purposes.
Job Description:
Essential Functions:
  • Analyzes biological data to identify patterns and trends.
  • Develops algorithms and computational tools for research and clinical genomics data analysis. Documents processes for future reference and training purposes.
  • Collaborates with biologists and clinicians to implement solutions and interpret results.
  • Maintains and updates databases of biological information.
  • Conducts statistical analyses to draw conclusions from data and large-scale biological datasets.
  • Stays current with advancements in bioinformatics research and technology.
  • Contributes to journal publications and scientific conference presentations.
  • Provides mentoring and support to less experienced programmers.

Education Requirement:
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biology, Genetics, or related field, required.
Skills:
  • Must have significant computational and biological understanding.
  • Must have the verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with developers, scientists, and clinicians.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to transcribe biological questions to code as well as the ability to translate research pipelines to clinical applications.

Experience:
  • Post-doc or 3 years of experience practicing bioinformatics in a research or clinical setting, required.
