Job description

Position Overview
The AI and Data Science Lead will be responsible for helping drive, enhance, and scaling the AI program at International. This role will lead the organization's AI and Data Science function, working closely with business partners to identify and evaluate new opportunities, develop scalable solutions, and strengthen enterprise AI/ML and data science capabilities.
This leader will oversee a growing team of AI/ML developers and data scientists and will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of AI across the organization. The position will focus equally on building and scaling the data science practice and leading a high-performing team, partnering with adjacent functions such as data engineering, insights and BI, data governance, and data/enterprise architecture to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions.
As International continues to develop its AI Center of Excellence, this role offers the opportunity to help define and advance the organization's AI strategy and capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and evolve the organization's Data Science AI/ML function, including strategy, execution, and team development.
  • Contribute to building International's AI Center of Excellence, helping define the roadmap and long-term capability strategy.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of AI/ML developers and data scientists with plans to grow the function over time.
  • Establish best practices, governance, and standards for AI development and deployment across the organization.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize new opportunities that deliver measurable business value.
  • Design and implement scalable AI and machine learning solutions that support enterprise initiatives.
  • Improve and operationalize intake and evaluation process to ensure the right projects are prioritized and executed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business teams including
  • Production and Logistics, Research and Development, IT,
  • Finance, Procurement, HR, etc. to deliver cross-functional solutions.
  • Translate complex analytical insights into clear executive-level messaging and recommendations.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science/Analytics, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Natural Science, Economics, Engineering or similar quantitative field and at least 11 years of analytics, data quality or statistical analysis experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science/Analytics, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Natural Science, Economics, Engineering or similar quantitative field and at least 9 years of analytics, data quality or statistical analysis experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR
  • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science/Analytics, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Natural Science, Economics, Engineering or similar quantitative field and at least 7 years of analytics, data quality or statistical analysis experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience in data science, machine learning, or AI, including experience leading and scaling teams or practices.
  • Demonstrated success building, leading, and advancing enterprise data science or AI/ML capabilities.
  • Strong experience and familiarity with modern AI, data science, machine learning tooling.
  • Demonstrated experience understanding and helping shape technology and architecture selection to advance organizational AI.
  • Experience developing and executing AI/ML strategy within complex organizations.
