Job description

Job Title: Software V&V Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Rockford, Illinois (Onsite Only)
Experience: 6+ Years


 Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Software Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer – Embedded Systems to support safety-critical aerospace software development. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DO-178B/C standards, structural coverage analysis, and embedded software testing methodologies in a regulated avionics environment.


 Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute software verification test cases using black-box, white-box, and boundary value analysis techniques
  • Perform unit, integration (SSIT/HSIT), and system-level testing for embedded avionics software
  • Conduct structural coverage analysis (SCA) and ensure compliance with DO-178B/C standards
  • Create and manage build instrumentation and coverage analysis activities
  • Perform defect identification, root cause analysis, and tracking through resolution
  • Use RTRT tools for structural coverage analysis and verification activities
  • Document detailed test results, deviations, and verification reports
  • Maintain requirements traceability using tools such as DOORS
  • Work in a safety-critical, regulated aerospace environment
  • Support configuration and change management using tools like Synergy CM, Polarion, or SVN

 Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in software V&V or embedded software testing
  • Strong knowledge of DO-178B/C aerospace certification standards
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • RTRT (Rational Test RealTime)
    • Structural Coverage Analysis (SCA)
    • Test case design and execution
  • Proficiency in C or Ada programming languages
  • Experience with embedded systems testing (unit, integration, system-level)
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills

 Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with DOORS (requirements management tool)
  • Experience in configuration management tools (Synergy, Polarion, SVN)
  • Background in avionics or aerospace software development
  • Exposure to safety-critical systems and compliance environments
