Job description

Job Summary:
Leonardo DRS is a global leader in defense and intelligence products, and they are seeking an AI Manager to support their Business Unit Artificial Intelligence Excellence program. This role will drive the adoption and integration of AI initiatives, collaborating with various teams to enhance operational performance and innovation.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the deployment and ongoing enhancement of the Business Unit Artificial Intelligence Excellence (AIEx) program in partnership with the Business Excellence organization.
• Serve as the Business Unit subject matter expert and business partner for AI initiatives, supporting the development of an AI enabled culture and driving adoption of AI tools and capabilities.
• Support the execution of the enterprise AI strategy at the Business Unit level, ensuring alignment with corporate AI governance, policies, and standards.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director of AI-Ex and guide integration of AI initiatives across the business.
• Track and manage AI initiatives across the Business Unit, including monitoring project scope, budgets, schedules, and technical risks.
• Maintain visibility of AI project pipelines and provide reporting and dashboards to leadership on progress, performance, and outcomes.
• Identify opportunities for AI driven business improvements and coordinate cross-functional teams to advance initiatives.
• Support Artificial Intelligence Site (AIS) Leaders in strategy deployment and alignment across their respective sites and organizations.
• Lead the implementation of AI strategy deployment activities to deliver measurable business improvements at the site level.
• Promote structured problem-solving and continuous improvement through AI-enabled solutions and analytics.
• Work closely with Business Excellence, IT, Finance, and other functional teams to ensure successful integration of AI solutions across the Business Unit.
• Maintain awareness of Quality Assurance standards and collaborate with Quality teams to ensure AI initiatives align with the AIS quality management system.
• Support governance, risk management, and responsible AI practices across Business Unit initiatives.
• Promote AI literacy and education across the Business Unit through training, workshops, and engagement with technical and operational teams.
• Encourage participation in AI education programs and certification pathways to strengthen AI capabilities within the organization.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years experience in engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated interest in advancing AI education, professional development, and certification programs.
• Experience supporting technology, analytics, automation, or AI initiatives within a business or operational environment.
• Strong program management and organizational skills with the ability to track multiple initiatives and deliver results.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
Preferred:
• Experience working with AI, machine learning, analytics, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience in Business Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with AI governance, risk management, or compliance practices in regulated environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise initiatives across multiple sites or business units.
