Job description


A global information-services organization is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for a hybrid position in Charlotte, North Carolina. This individual will help create AI-driven research and decision-support products used in complex legal and regulatory settings.
The work will center on designing and validating retrieval-augmented generation solutions, agent-based AI systems, and natural language processing capabilities. You will translate large, specialized document collections into dependable product features that support research, summarization, interpretation, and workflow automation.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of professional experience in data science, applied machine learning, or a closely related discipline
Deep knowledge of natural language processing, large language models, and modern generative AI methods
Hands-on experience building and evaluating retrieval-augmented generation systems
Experience developing agentic AI solutions or multi-step model-driven workflows
Ability to work with distributed AI architectures and enterprise-scale data environments
Strong analytical programming skills and a track record of moving experimental work into production
Preferred Skills & Experience
Familiarity with legal, regulatory, compliance, or other document-intensive data domains
Master's degree preferred; bachelor's degree required in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field
Experience creating AI products for high-stakes professional users
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
Lead hands-on data science work from problem definition through production validation
Design RAG pipelines that improve the relevance and accuracy of answers generated from specialized content
Develop models and evaluation methods for legal research, document understanding, and summarization use cases
Create agent-based workflows that coordinate retrieval, reasoning, and task completion
Partner with engineering and product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and measurable AI capabilities
