DunnCorp Utility Design is a minority owned business based out of Fort Washington PA, that specializes in utility design. Our engineers and designers are versed in transmission systems and power distribution systems locally and regionally. Position Overview:
As a Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our engineering team, contributing to the design and development of residential, commercial, and utility infrastructure drawings. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and deliver innovative design solutions that meet technical requirements, budget constraints, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Development: Utilize CAD software and other design tools to develop detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for residential, commercial, and utility infrastructure.
    • Utility Design – includes the support and development of various energy and utility construction drawings; including electric, gas, communication, water and sewer. This position is responsible for supporting a wide range of projects including aerial distribution, underground duct bank, gas main replacement, and more. Drawings are created based on stakeholder design and construction standards.
    • Residential Design – includes development of permit drawings, construction plan sets, city plot plans and affiliated M/E/P drawing necessary to perform residential property renovations/alterations. Plan sets include property layout, pertinent lot dimensions, setbacks, and representing all new work. More involved project builds will include various section views and construction details to thoroughly illustrate the work.  
    • Commercial Design – includes development of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and complete detailed construction plan sets for commercial buildings.
  • Design Support: Develop and process supporting material for design initiatives. This includes but is not limited to managing material orders, coordinating Permits, Outage Planning, and coordinating inspections. When necessary, these services are conducted within custom clint or city portal; such as Asset Suite or Eclipse.
  • Conceptualization: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to conceptualize and visualize design ideas, ensuring alignment with project goals and client requirements to optimize performance and functionality.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, bill of materials (BOM), and design change records.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including owners engineers, product managers, manufacturing specialists, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design solutions into the overall project framework.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in design and engineering, and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or related field preferred.
  • 3+ Years of relevant Utility or MEP design drafting experience.
  • EIT Preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D software or similar design tools.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and design fundamentals.
  • Familiar with Utility design process and operations.
  • Capable of reading, understanding, and implementing technical standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
