JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:

Data Platform Engineer

Department:

USAdmt – Data & AI Engineering

Reports To:

Vice President - Data Science

Location:

St. Petersburg, FL (Hybrid)

Employment Type:

Full-Time

About the Role

USAdmt is seeking a talented Data Platform Engineer to join USAdmt, our technology division focused on digital compliance solutions. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and product development, supporting the SafePath platform suite that serves border security, university compliance, and migration governance markets.

You will work across a multi-database Azure architecture, develop and deploy analytical models, build event-driven data pipelines, and create embedded analytics experiences within our React-based products. This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role with visibility across the organization and direct contribution to USAdmt’s rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain event-driven data pipelines on Azure using Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and Hangfire to support SafePath’s real-time data processing and analytics capabilities
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy analytical and predictive models in Python for classification, pattern analysis, anomaly detection, and risk scoring
  • Build and optimize intelligent automation features that enhance compliance workflows and decision support
  • Create and maintain embedded analytics and data visualizations using React (Chart.js, Recharts) and geospatial mapping (Leaflet, H3 hexagonal grids) for both internal and client-facing dashboards
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries and data transformations across Azure SQL (Entity Framework Core), Cosmos DB, and PostgreSQL with PostGIS extensions
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications and data-driven solutions
  • Conduct A/B testing, statistical analysis, and hypothesis-driven experimentation to inform product decisions and measure feature impact
  • Manage and automate data workflows across Azure Functions (.NET and Python), ensuring reliability, scalability, and observability
  • Contribute to the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies, including vendor assessments and proof-of-concept development
  • Maintain documentation, data schemas, and engineering best practices across the data platform

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data analytics, or applied analytics roles
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with hands-on experience building production-grade data pipelines and analytical models
  • Experience with Azure cloud services (Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Service Bus, Azure Blob Storage, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of analytical modeling techniques including classification, clustering, time-series anomaly detection, and ensemble methods
  • Experience with geospatial data processing (PostGIS, coordinate systems, spatial indexing, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in data visualization and embedded analytics (Chart.js, Recharts, D3.js, or equivalent charting libraries)
  • Solid foundation in statistics: hypothesis testing, regression, A/B testing, and confidence intervals
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical work into business impact for diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ Year of experience
  • Experience building intelligent automation or decision-support tools
  • Experience with Redis or similar for distributed caching and real-time data patterns
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Azure Service Bus, message queues, pub/sub patterns)
  • Experience with geospatial visualization (Leaflet, Mapbox, H3 hexagonal indexing)
  • Familiarity with compliance, insurance, immigration, or regulated industry data environments

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape the data and analytics strategy for a fast-growing compliance technology platform
  • Direct mentorship from the Chief Data Officer with exposure to executive-level initiatives
  • Hybrid work environment with flexibility and a collaborative, innovation-driven culture
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package
  • Professional development support including conference attendance and continued learning
