Department Overview 

Information Systems Technology Services is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively in order to deliver high quality technology solutions. 

Position Summary

In this position, you will provide technical leadership and direction to individuals responsible for IT Operations and Project functions supporting the Common/Critical Facilities infrastructure.  The successful candidate must have abilities to quickly provide design recommendations, technical scope and technical documentation.  Development of key technology roadmaps and maintain reliability portfolios. 

The successful candidate will be accountable for fostering partnerships with internal Infrastructure teams, external IT teams and business clients for the development, enhancement, implementation and support of new and/or existing IT Infrastructure and related services. 

While the position will focus on IT Common/Critical Facilities, the candidate should have general knowledge of the products and services associated with all the “Key Platforms” listed below and must also understand the end to end process for IT service delivery. 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location approximately 2 - 3 days per week, or more, based on business needs or company requirements. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creates and presents innovative solutions based on requirements, by utilizing subject-matter expertise.
  • Ensures design solutions delivered are aligned with the requirements in the technical/logic design
  • Ensures the successful implementation of the most complex, larger scale, and cross-functional new/enhanced systems on time, in scope and within budget.
  • Creates system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.
  • Develops and maintains all technical standards, design patterns, reference architectures and roadmaps for one or more foundational services.
  • Oversees a portion of the architecture and design of technology solutions supporting business requirements on projects.
  • Assists in consulting and guidance during the detailed design, build, test, and deploy phases of IT projects.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience  
  • Experience in IT-Information Technology engineering design, 5 years OR Experience in IT-Information Technology project implementation, 5 years

Desired:

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent industry-recognized technical training
  • Five years of experience with IT/Substation Design of Core and Edge power Infrastructure, AC/DC Power Systems, Remote Terminal Unit, Building facilities  
  • Ability in identifying complex problems; reason logically; draw valid conclusions and take appropriate action
  • Able to organize workload to perform assigned responsibilities within established time frames; work off hours to support operations and meet project deadlines.
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator
  • A detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients, system users and other technical colleagues is required
  • Ability to drive change and accountability is required
  • Strong customer service orientation to ensure that all requests and problems are resolved in a professional manner is required
  • Experience in developing solution blue prints and designs for implementation in to annual project portfolios  
  • Working with product vendors to ensure PG&E is gaining the best support and service based on contracts
  • M.S./M.B.A. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, business administration, engineering or related discipline with an information technology focus
  • Experience in the Utility industry telecommunications and business
  • Proficient in conceptualizing creative solutions, as well as documenting them and presenting/selling them to senior management
  • Knowledge of line of business/industry being supported required (i.e., Gas, Electric, Energy Supply, Contact Center, etc.)
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of IT decisions
  • Provide financial guidance and risk assessments

Compensation

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and midpoint listed below.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

Bay Area Min: $122,000.00

Bay Area Mid: $158,000.00

Bay Area Max: $194,000.00
