What is the opportunity?

We are hiring an entrepreneurial AI/MLScientist to architect AI solutions for specific business needs of Wealth Management Canada and focus on fundamental research, keeping track on new developments in AI and ML.
You will be a key member of the Wealth Management Canada AI Innovation Incubator. You will be driving the team's mandate to develop data, artificial intelligence, machine learning products and ownership of the end-to-end product development of our AI/ML portfolio, from ideation to launch. In this role you'll have a chance to incubate and shape the delivery of innovative AI products, drive business success, and foster a culture of innovation within our team.

What will you do?

AI Innovation and Incubation

  • Support the development of innovative AI solutions for Wealth Management investment advisors and their clients

  • Quickly assess, test and validate external and internal data, APIs, models and solutions and do rapid prototyping

  • Technical feasibility testing, idea validation, creating MVP models for further work and enhancement

  • Help foster culture of innovation within the WMC Data and AI team, encouraging creative thinking and exploration of new ideas

  • Champion a test-and-learn approach, promoting experimentation and the use of data to drive decision-making

Partnership for POC development and scaling up

  • Define the path for a successful AI POC to be developed and scaled by the partners

  • Manage close partnership and collaboration with our partners for development, implementation and user adoption

Technology monitoring and research

  • Monitor AI landscape and Wealth Management industry for emerging technologies and novel AI solutions, including LLMs and agentic AI, to assess feasibility of integrating them into our AI solutions

  • Fundamental research on new technologies and evaluation of potential tech partnerships

Responsible AI

  • Ensure AI innovation is responsible, fair, and aligned with RBC WM ethical standards

  • Identify potential bias, data gaps, review prompt quality

  • Other responsibilities as required

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Passion for suing machine learning, generative AI and agentic AI to solve business problems and fulfil business expectations and needs

  • 5-8 years of experience in AI/ML/data science

  • PhD or Master's degree (or similar) in computer science, statistics, AI/machine learning, physics, mathematics, or another quantitative field

  • Experience driving AI innovation process independently, including business need identification, solution architecture design, data integration and analysis, model development, training, evaluation and validation

  • High proficiency in Python, SQL and expert knowledge of common data science packages and experience with cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS)

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts to both technical and business audiences

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of financial services and wealth management is a plus
