CRAFT Tech is seeking motivated and energetic individuals to join its highly talented team focused on developing solutions products for customers in government, academia and industry for multi-disciplinary applications in Aerospace, Defense, Energy and National Security.

CRAFT Tech has an immediate opening for a Hypersonics Research Scientist to support the analysis of hypersonic aerodynamics, aeroheating and trajectory modeling, applied to high speed/reentry vehicles, involving the use of advanced CFD/DSMC software and tools.

Job Description:
  • Collaborate with and support senior staff in supporting projects related to hypersonic flight vehicle flowfield/signature predictions and related research activities
  • Collaborate with CRAFT Techโ€™s partners in government, academia and industry
  • Requires excellent analytical, technical and communication skills
  • Report preparation, proposal development and participation in technical forums
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or Physics or Mathematics with a specialization in hypersonic/reentry physics, such as ablation, thermal protection systems, nosetip shape change, shock layer/wake chemistry, aerothermochemistry, boundary layer transition, DSMC/rarefied gas dynamics modeling, etc.
  • Excellent communication, very strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong programming skills with Fortran, C/C++, Python or other scripting languages
  • Ability to work both independently on R&D developmental programs as well as in a team environment
  • US citizenship required as well as ability to obtain Security Clearance

  • Collaborate with CRAFT Techโ€™s partners in government, academia and industry by providing pre-test planning support and post-test data analysis/interpretation
  • Interfacing with customers, including development of presentation material, etc.
  • Report preparation, proposal development and participation in technical forums
  • MS or Ph.D. in aerospace, mechanical engineering or related field, or related work experience
  • Very strong background with CFD modeling of multi-phase, turbulent reactive flows and shock dynamics
  • Skills in radiation transport (RT) modeling, computational electromagnetics (CEM), aero-optics (AO), etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of numerical algorithms for large-scale computational and data analysis software on parallel computing platforms
  • Strong programming skills with Fortran, C/C++, Python or other scripting languages
  • Excellent communication, very strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently on R&D developmental programs as well as in a team environment
  • US citizenship preferred. Exceptionally qualified candidates who are permanent resident aliens may also be considered

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills in chemical kinetics, thermodynamics and transport processes, including experience with software tools like Chemkin or Cantera
  • Demonstrated experience in development of combustion/physics models and numerical algorithms for large-scale computational and data analysis software on parallel computing platforms
  • Strong programming skills with Fortran, C/C++, Python or other scripting languages
  • Excellent communication, very strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently on R&D programs as well as in a team environment
