Position: Technical Sales Expert
Hours and Pay: Full-time; Hourly at $24.81/hr. Estimated annual compensation of $51,610.39.
Location: In-person at Viroqua, WI
Reports to: Sales & Marketing Coordinator
Position Summary
The Technical Sales Expert plays a vital role in Ethos' mission to revolutionize the renewable energy landscape in Southwest Wisconsin. This position requires a motivated, knowledgeable, and personable individual who can effectively communicate the benefits of clean energy while mastering the technical aspects of solar power systems and related products. The role involves developing strong customer relationships, managing the sales process from lead generation to contract signing, and ensuring accurate technical and financial communication with clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Expert Knowledge & Sales Mastery
  • Learn, understand, and articulate The Ethos Process and the Road to Solar proficiently.
  • Explain utility tariffs and cost-benefit economics to customers.
  • Master technical aspects of solar power systems, electrification, and Ethos' unique installation methods. This includes but is not limited to product knowledge on heat pumps, EV chargers, and batteries, inverters, and solar modules.
  • Follow established sales procedures and collaborate with the Sales Coordinator to maximize results and customer experience.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and the competitive landscape.
  • Seek outbound and inbound sales opportunities and work collaboratively to close deals.

2. Customer Engagement
  • Respond promptly and accurately to customer inquiries.
  • Proactively seek new customers and secure contracts through ethical sales practices.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with customers.
  • Develop a robust sales pipeline with qualified leads.
  • Engage with local communities to broaden awareness of solar benefits.
  • Identify and connect with potential clients via cold calls, referrals, events, and online platforms.
  • Deliver clear, accurate technical education to potential customers.
  • Present tariffs and incentives accurately and ensure they are well understood.
  • Conduct customer site assessments, design system solutions, and generate accurate system costing and proposals.

3. Collaboration & Process Adherence
  • Work collaboratively within the Ethos team, seeking input when needed.
  • Adhere to and advance The Ethos Process through open communication and active participation.
  • Propose system and process improvements in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Provide Project Managers with accurate and detailed information for successful project execution.
  • Coordinate site assessments and system designs with Project Management.
  • Share client feedback with Marketing and Procurement teams.
  • Report regularly on sales activities, pipeline development, and performance metrics to the Sales Coordinator.

4. Ethical Practice & Safety
  • Adhere to Ethos' internal policies and all legal regulations.
  • Follow Ethos Safety Policy and maintain safe work practices at all times.

5. Administrative Duties
  • Manage client and job information in CRM, email, and accounting systems.
  • Effectively manage personal schedule and time off requests.
