The purpose of this position is to contribute to the Project Management Office (PMO) by leading and managing IT-related projects for the business functions. 

Job Description

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for enabling and facilitating the work that is done by the project team.  They position themselves as facilitators and removers of roadblocks, eliminating distractions and enabling the team to perform its job.  The PM is an expert at reading verbal/nonverbal cues, excels at dialog/discussion and seeks to become an advisor and guide on projects.  The PM must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while interfacing with several distinct groups, various personality types, all levels of management and able to work under deadline pressures. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated advanced qualities/skills in the following areas:

Communication              

a)     High level of cultural understanding and emotional/situational intelligence

b)     Lead business meetings and presentations by developing clear meeting goals, logically organizing agendas and incorporating innovative presentation approaches

c)     Articulate ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing to varied groups of people

d)     Take time to listen and understand before recommending or speaking to a situation or problem

e)     Report project status to project sponsor/steering committee and project stakeholders

f)     Has worked with and communicated/interacted with all levels of upper management

g)     Skillful at helping others be heard, understood and included in conversations

h)    Advanced active listening skills paying attention to nonverbal cues are required

a)     Establish a rapport quickly and build relationships with various personality types at different levels of the organization

l)      Past exposure and involvement in PMO setup

m)   Conducts research in support of PMO operations and planning. Provides recommendations to the PMO for development of project management policies, procedures and best practices.

Planning

a)     Capable of effectively managing simultaneous, related or unrelated projects and programs

b)     Tenaciously and meticulously manage work that is being performed by the project team (some of which are mobile and globally located)

c)     Ability to guide stakeholders through the scope definition process

d)     Design an appropriate project plan incorporating needs, major deliverables and milestones based on scope, resources, budget and personnel

e)     Identify risks/issues and creates corresponding mitigation and contingency plans

f)     Develop a communication plan for how project status should be delivered, frequency, recipients and content

g)     Follow the defined change request process for time, scope, budget or resource changes on a project prior to change taking place

h)    Ensure that appropriate documentation, project review and steady state support are accounted for to complete the project

i)      Seek to understands technology concepts, trends, and capabilities specific to the business direction and environment

Qualifications

a)     PMP certification is highly desirable

b)     Minimum of a 4-year degree in Computer Science, Business or related field is required

c)     Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Technology

d)     Minimum 7 years Project Management experience using structured methodology

e)     Familiar with Microsoft Office and Project

f)     Experience leading global projects in the following areas: determination of business requirements, packaged software installs, product evaluations/selection, ERP implementations, software development and package upgrades

g)     Flexible with time/schedule and dedicated to doing what is necessary to get the job done

h)    Large IT department experience (100+ people)
