POSITION

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate and graduate students in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department to work with individual faculty to grade homework or provide classroom/lab assistance or tutoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering.   
An Instructional Student Assistant is a CSUF graduate or undergraduate student who is appointed at an hourly rate to perform grading or tutoring duties, during an academic term, under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member.

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

Schedule: Schedule to be determined by supervisor and program needs. 

Hours: Normal grading assignments vary from 1 hours to 12 hours a week. Students may work no more than a total of 20 hours per week.

(Monday - Friday per approval 10 to 20 hours per week at max)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student must have completed related EE 200, 300, 400 & 500 level courses with a grade of B.
  • Current students at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in at least 6 units in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic notice or academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide eligibility documents.

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00
Hours: Normal assignments vary from 1 hour to 12 hours a week. Student may work no more than a total of 20 hours per week.

MANDATED REPORTER PER CANRA

 

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

Instructional Student Assistants are rehired at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check.
