The Role

Our Field Engineer (FE) Interns will work on a solar construction project site, gaining exposure to the Field Engineer (FE) role. The Field Engineer (FE) is an entry-level, field-based position responsible for the support and execution of an assigned scope for project construction, from early phases of preconstruction through final acceptance of the project by the client. The position works closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and supports Superintendents.

Candidates selected for this internship are expected to relocate to the project site for the duration of the 12-week internship during Summer 2027. This internship is an hourly position and will be eligible for overtime and per diem. 

Internship

  • The goal of this internship is to provide each intern with real-world experience in construction management. They will be assigned responsibilities, not just tasks, that directly contribute to a live project to make an impact.
  • We encourage our interns to "harness their creative energy" and gain experience to see what it takes to become a successful contributor to a project management team
  • Each intern is to give a companywide presentation at the conclusion of the internship program showcasing their summer internship, what they learned, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled within a university in either Sophomore, Junior, or going into Senior year working toward their degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical or electrical engineering) or construction management/science, with an interest in pursuing a construction or project management career
  • Computer literacy and proficiency using Microsoft tools, especially Excel.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in problem solving.
  • Strong coordination, time management, active listening, verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic exposure to technical and administrative phases of project management
  • Basic exposure/ability to read & understand IFC drawings and job specifications for civil and electrical work

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to relocate to construction site for duration of the 12-week internship.
  • Ability to walk active job sites while adhering to safety requirements.
