About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, you will experience reporting, monthly sampling, inventory and refinery duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Compile Mill Daily Production Reports, and enter operator report data.
  • Month-end sampling of plant inventory for metal balance, and reconciliation.
  • Assist refiner with washing electrowinning cells, and with gold pour.
  • Complete reagent inventory, and order reagents as required.
  • Perform laboratory testwork as required.
  • Routine maintenance of plant, and laboratory equipment (including pH meters, Marcy scales, and weigh scales.)
  • Prepare reagents for the Operations group (indicator solution, silver nitrate solution, etc.)
  • Assist the Metallurgy group in sampling, sample preparation, and dispatch for further testwork.
  • Assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Other duties as the Senior Metallurgist may assign.

Education & Qualities:

  • 2nd or 3rd year engineering student enrolled in chemical/metallurgical engineering program.
  • No Mill experience required.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency is an asset.
  • Excellent English proficiency is an asset.
  • Possess a valid class G driver's license (or equivalent).
  • A sense of civility, and to view the team's success as paramount over personal achievements.

Working Conditions

  • 7 days on/7 days off.
  • Required to be clean shaven.
  • Must correctly wear all prescribed PPE requirements, including a full-face respirator.
  • Must adhere to Mill, and site policies.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, and lift weights of up to 50 lbs.
  • Outdoor work in summer, and winter conditions as required.
  • Pay or shift range: $19.95 CAD  to $33.57 CAD
