Job Description:

The Data Analytics / Data Visualization Intern will support the DHHS data team by analyzing and interpreting data to help inform decision-making across the organization. This internship provides hands-on experience working with modern data platforms, visualization tools, and large datasets to develop meaningful insights that support public service initiatives across Nebraska.
Location: Onsite in Lincoln, NE

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support organizational decision-making

  • Work with data consumers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand business rules and context behind available data

  • Assist in validating data quality, accuracy, and completeness across multiple datasets

  • Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports using data visualization tools

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions that meet business needs

  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues in reports or dashboards

  • Participate in Agile or project-based activities such as team stand-ups and sprint reviews

  • Assist with compiling and presenting findings in a clear and meaningful way for stakeholders


Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field

  • Basic knowledge of data analysis concepts and tools

  • Familiarity with SQL or data querying concepts preferred

  • Interest in data visualization and dashboard development

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members
