Duties & Responsibilities:

As a PC Design Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of hardware for VIAVI Solutions' innovative products. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of PC board design.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the schematic capture and layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs) using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing input and learning from feedback.
  • Support the prototyping and bring-up of new hardware designs, including component assembly and functional testing.
  • Conduct basic debugging and troubleshooting of hardware issues.
  • Document design changes, test procedures, and results accurately.
  • Research and evaluate new components, technologies, and design methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the engineering team.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.
  • Familiarity with at least one PCB CAD software (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Eagle).
  • Knowledge of basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Prior experience with soldering or hardware assembly is a plus.
