Solutions Design Engineer
Location: Downtown Boston, North Reading, or Westborough Massachusetts (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
We are seeking a Solutions Design Engineer to join a team focused on designing supply chain solutions for package sorting, processing, and shipping. This role involves creating detailed drawings of material handling equipment and work areas, supporting future design initiatives, and building automation tools for the team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work with minimal direction to produce high-quality drawing sets that standardize designs across a large network of fulfillment operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and components.
  • Develop and maintain drawing sets for both plan and elevation views.
  • Build automation tools to improve team efficiency and workflow.
  • Support continued updates for existing sites as new designs are scaled across multiple building templates.
  • Translate complex workflows into logical, maintainable code.
  • Ensure designs help standardize work spaces across a large operational network.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 1-2 years of applicable experience in a relevant field.
Technical Skills:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
  • Experience with CAD software for 2D/3D drafting and design (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks).
  • Understanding of industrial systems flow or manufacturing process concepts.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with conveyor design and layout.
  • Ability to write code in Python or C

Compensation
