Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Stationary Engineer operates and maintains equipment in the plant (boilers/chillers) rooms, i.e., boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps, etc., and performs overall building services at the CAHS, ensuring the safe, efficient and economical operation of all equipment and systems in accordance with the regulations of the Operating Engineers Act., as well as conducting rounds, inspections, and other similar functions, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
-Grade 12 education with an Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Third Class Stationary Engineer.
-Certificate of Qualification as a Third Class Stationary Engineer.
-1- year apprenticeship training, with demonstrated knowledge of equipment and machinery typical to environment.
-Verbal and reading skill is necessary to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals, etc., pertaining to operation and maintenance of equipment and systems.
-Knowledge of automated and computer processes, i.e., building management and chemical water treatment systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, HVAC equipment & systems, etc.
-The ability to assess mechanical malfunctions and enact solutions independently in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the safe, efficient and economical operation of all equipment and systems during his/her shift in accordance with the regulations of the Operating Engineers Act, etc.
Routinely performs the necessary tests and chemical treatment of boiler feedwater, heating water, chilled water, condenser water and soft water, including monitoring parameters for equipment/systems, etc.
Operates the Building Management Computer System.
Performs related duties to ensure the cleanliness of plant rooms, equipment & systems and general upkeep of specific equipment as assigned.
Responsible for maintaining inventory, including ordering supplies, parts & material, etc., and arranging for service contracts (i.e., in coordination with the Building Services Management).
Ensures contractors working on site follow the required policies and procedures, etc.
Adheres to all safety regulations and maintains a good preventative maintenance schedule.
Is responsible for other duties and assignments as delegated by the Building Services Supervisor/Building Services Management.
Completing work orders on the CMMS, closing work orders, etc.
Assists the Supervisor in developing SOP's for work related activities pertaining to maintaining, operating, and inspecting equipment & systems, including any required for performing rounds, etc.
Keeping the Supervisor updated on all issues pertaining to the plant, etc.
Adheres to departmental and organizational procedures, etc.
