Job description

CAD/CAM Technician

We are seeking a dependable CAD/CAM Technician to support daily production operations. This role involves operating CNC machining centers, inspecting parts for quality, performing basic assembly tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Experience with injection molding tooling is preferred but not required.

This is a hands-on role, requiring time both at a computer creating machining programs and on the shop floor setting up and machining components and parts.

The ideal candidate is looking for long-term career growth and advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Programming (CAM)

  • Create machining toolpaths using CAD/CAM software.

  • Develop machining programs, including tooling selection, cutting parameters, and spindle speeds.

Shop Floor Execution

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment.

  • Validate new programs and troubleshoot machining issues.

Tooling Support

  • Build, repair, and maintain manufacturing aids such as jigs, molds, fixtures, and tooling components.

Documentation

  • Create setup sheets, work instructions, and process documentation to support consistent production.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on molds and tooling, including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.

  • Operate manual and CNC machinery including lathes, mills, and grinders.

  • Troubleshoot tooling and production issues directly on the manufacturing floor.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

  • Maintain and update SOPs and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma plus vocational training, technical certification, or Tool & Die apprenticeship preferred.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of CAD/CAM, CNC machining, tooling, or related manufacturing experience.

Technical Skills

  • CNC and manual machining experience.

  • CNC programming knowledge, including G & M codes.

  • Strong shop mathematics skills.

  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, and pneumatic systems related to tooling.
