Location: Jamaica, NY
Employment Type: Contract (2 Years)
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday & Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $21.00 – $30.00 per hour (Based on experience)
Position Summary
The Computer Operator provides operational support by monitoring and controlling computer systems and peripheral electronic data processing equipment to ensure accurate and efficient processing of business, scientific, engineering, and administrative data. This role follows established operating procedures, supports document production activities, and assists with the preparation, review, and maintenance of electronic materials.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to computer systems, applications, and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and operate computer systems and peripheral electronic data processing equipment in accordance with established procedures and operating instructions.
• Execute routine computer operations to process and manage business, technical, and administrative data.
• Follow instructions for the creation, formatting, and production of final copy materials using word processing and computer-based applications.
• Review, proofread, and edit documents to ensure accuracy in spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and overall presentation.
• Perform data entry, document preparation, and file maintenance tasks as needed.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related tools, to complete assignments.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets, graphs, charts, reports, and other electronic documents.
• Assist with the creation and updating of web pages or other electronic content as assigned.
• Identify basic system or document issues and escalate problems when appropriate.
• Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism while handling organizational information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Experience operating computer systems and electronic data processing equipment.
• Knowledge of business English, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and written communication standards.
• Ability to understand and follow technical and operational instructions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software packages.
• Strong proofreading and document review skills.
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic and data handling procedures.
• Ability to learn new software, systems, and procedures within a reasonable timeframe.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
