Your work environment at EXP
EXP's Infrastructure & Transportation Practice provides comprehensive planning, design and construction engineering services for all types of roadway, bridge, water resource, rail, transit and aviation projects. With a unique multidisciplinary team approach, we have a history of successfully delivering some of the most complex infrastructure projects within the Chicagoland region. We currently are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic CAD Manager for our Chicago office to help us deliver Transportation & Infrastructure projects. You will report to the Structural Bridge Department Manager and work in our Chicago office in compliance with our hybrid work policy to help us deliver this exciting and fast paced project.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Work closely with the project team to develop, implement and monitor CAD design standards and procedures to meet the project requirements.
  • Work with the project team to solve technical issues, provide needed training and oversight and solve other CAD system and quality issues.
  • Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies.
  • Recommend best practices for solutions to meet or exceed project requirements.
  • Train and supervise CAD users in core application skills and standards.
  • Maintain documentation records of generated design deliverables.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization, outside vendors, clients and key project stakeholders.
  • Ensure project documentation and contracts are in compliance with the standards set forth by the client.
  • Develop 3D models and train engineering staff in modeling techniques and digital delivery workflows.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for MicroStation, OpenRoads, ProjectWise and related CAD applications.
  • Manage deliverable preparation, electronic transmittals and quality reviews before submittals.

What your experience looks like
  • Must have at least 7+ years of practical experience
  • Associate's degree in related field preferred
  • Must have a strong understanding of IDOT and Tollway CAD workspaces and CAD policies and procedures
  • Must have a strong understanding of Bentley design software (MicroStation, Open Bridge Modeler, GEOPAK, OpenRoads Designer, and ProjectWise)
  • Experience with 3D modeling, digital delivery, rendering, and visualization workflows.
  • Must have strong soft skills, and ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in the civil engineering marketplace or construction industry is preferred

The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
