Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Terminal Operator to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This position will be responsible for successfully perform the day-to-day terminal operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Load tanker trucks or rail cars according to job orders and in a manner to minimize spillage and dust.
  • Offload rail cars and ships in a manner to minimize spillage, dust and contamination.
  • Operate equipment such as Heila arm manipulator 926 M payloader/bobcats, forklifts, and Trackmobile.
  • Diagnose cause of equipment or plant malfunction to determine root cause of problem.
  • Repair plant and equipment, including compressors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers, etc. with limited supervision.
  • Maintain grounds to include mowing, landscaping, snow and ice removal, etc.
  • May make minor electrical repairs.
  • Make recommendations to appropriate plant personnel in a timely manner to prevent recurrence of problems.
  • Perform all work in a manner to maximize production amounts and quality.
  • Maintain safe and clean work area.
  • Operate hand-help radio according to company policy and FCC regulations.
  • Communicate verbally with all plant personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of plant operating systems.
  • Must have knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Physical job requirements include working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat and cold, constant standing and walking, climbing, working from heights and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends when needed.
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
