About the Position
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of different types of PIT (Power Industrial Trucks) equipment such as the forklift and pallet jack. This role transfers and loads donated goods in support of Evergreen Goodwill's business operations.
Pay Rate: $21.65/hour
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Perform pre-and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Goodwill policy to ensure federal and state compliance.
  • Safety and efficiently operate equipment that may include: forklift, pallet jack, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean tracks or wheels on equipment, as needed.
  • Report any necessary repairs to supervisor, as needed.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year prior equipment operation experience
  • Minimum 1 year working in warehouse type of environment. Basic familiarity with warehouse procedures and operations.
  • Prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Good follow through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.

  • Goodwill Forklift certification required: must meet eligibility requirements

Physical Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 40-50 pounds; have developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain). Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
