Job description

Job Title: Sheet Metal Fabricator / CAD/CAM Programmer

Job Description

This role combines hands-on sheet metal fabrication with CAD/CAM programming to review and edit programs, optimize nesting and layouts, and maximize product output. You will program, set up, and operate sheet metal equipment while translating design concepts into accurate, reliable sheet metal structures within specified dimensions. Responsibilities

  • Review and edit CAD/CAM programs to maximize product yield and minimize material waste.
  • Perform nesting and layout of sheet metal parts to ensure efficient use of materials and machine time.
  • Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication equipment, including press brakes and other related machinery.
  • Program, set up, and operate equipment associated with sheet metal fabrication, using CAD/CAM tools and related software.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce accurate sheet metal components.
  • Use measuring tools and tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specified tolerances.
  • Apply strong math skills to calculate dimensions, layouts, and material requirements.
  • Assemble HVAC sheet metal and other sheet metal components according to design requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members in the warehouse and assembly areas to meet production goals and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain organized work areas and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust programs or setups as needed to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and consistent, reliable execution of daily tasks.

  • At least 4+ years of experience setting up and operating sheet metal fabrication equipment, including press brakes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and CAD/CAM programming tools.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, including HVAC sheet metal and sheet metal assembly.
  • Ability to think in terms of sheet metal design and create complex, reliable sheet metal structures that fit within specified dimensions.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and measuring tools.
  • Strong math skills applied to layout, dimensioning, and fabrication work.
  • Ability to accurately use tape measures and other precision measuring instruments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
