Job description

Slitter Operator – Night Shift

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: Night Shift | 12-Hour Continental Schedule (5:45 PM – 6:15 AM)


Position Overview

We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Slitter Operators to join a fast-paced manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate slitting and roll handling equipment, ensuring finished products meet customer specifications while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and enjoys working in a team-oriented production environment. This position offers the opportunity to develop technical skills while supporting the production of high-quality packaging products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting, core cutting, and roll wrapping equipment.
  • Cut cores to required specifications and maintain an adequate supply for production.
  • Weigh, label, wrap, and palletize finished rolls according to customer requirements.
  • Transport finished materials to designated storage areas using material handling equipment.
  • Perform quality inspections before, during, and after production runs.
  • Review production specifications and ensure all finished products meet quality standards.
  • Perform data entry and production reporting using manufacturing systems.
  • Communicate machine status, production updates, and job information during shift handoffs.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and report equipment issues as needed.
  • Follow established safety procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), GMPs, and housekeeping standards.
  • Support food safety, quality, and compliance initiatives.
  • Assist other operators and departments as needed to support production goals.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to read rulers and perform standard and metric measurements accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet wrappers, or other material handling equipment is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn overhead hoist operation and other production equipment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a continental schedule.
