Job Responsibilities
Operates mower max slope mower as part of routine limbing and right of way brush management operations. Operates heavy duty equipment such as backhoe or motor grader in a variety of maintenance operations such as cleaning ditches, installing driveways, grading dirt roads, clipping shoulders, and routine ditching and shoulder repair. Operates medium equipment such as tandem dump and skid steer in various maintenance operations to include hauling materials and repairs to both roads and bridges. Coordinates the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zone according to South Carolina Work Zone Traffic Control Manual and Field Guide to warn motorists. Assists in emergency or inclement weather operations; includes being available for extended hours or 12- hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
