Job description

The Senior Network Engineer provides senior-level technical leadership in the design, implementation, optimization, and support of enterprise and data center network infrastructure. Serves as a subject matter expert for complex network technologies, leads critical engineering initiatives, drives infrastructure reliability and scalability, and acts as the highest technical escalation point while partnering with internal teams and customers to deliver secure, high-performing network solution

Responsibilities

  • Discover, review, and influence new and evolving design, architecture, and standards for building and delivering enterprise-class services.
  • Investigate, design, and implement best-in-industry, innovative technologies that will expand Otava’s infrastructure through robust, scalable, adrenaline-fueled solutions.
  • Champion the network infrastructure vision and strategy.
  • Be the expert in network service reliability and resiliency.
  • Develop and execute designs for complex systems backed by excellence, confidence, and thorough engineering analysis.
  • Develop, gather, and leverage metrics to manage the network infrastructure to drive automation, improvement, and performance.
  • Respond to, troubleshoot, resolve, and be the top escalation point for all network-related incidents and problems.
  • Own the most complex incidents and problems.
  • Help design, configure, deploy, and maintain all network equipment.
  • Deliver an exceptional experience to our clients, team members, and non-technical co-workers.
  • Represent the Otava brand via direct customer interactions and interfacing.
  • Partner with the Sales organization and leadership to deliver innovative technology solutions and a second-to-none experience to our customers.
  • Lead networking-focused technology projects from inception to implementation and post-implementation support.

Experience

  • 10+ years' experience administering and engineering complex networks supporting enterprise class technologies (e.g. cloud platforms).
  • Network-related certifications or education; CCIE preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of OSI Model, computer networking, network topologies, and design standards.
  • Client-focused individual with excellent communication skills who has the ability to communicate network concepts and challenges effectively to both technical and non-technical people.
  • Extensive automation experience strongly desired.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in the Fortinet product suite required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Manage stressful situations calmly, with courtesy and confidence.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, PCI, and/or Safe Harbor a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of existing industry standards, technologies, security issues, and trends.
  • You are driven to solve difficult problems with scalable, elegant, and maintainable solutions.
  • Expert troubleshooter – unwilling to let a problem defeat you; unrelenting, persistent, confident.
  • A penchant for thinking outside the box to solve complex and interesting problems.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, technical field, or equivalent experience.

Certifications

  • One or more relevant industry recognized certifications: MCSA, CCNA, CISSP, CCNET, Comp TIA A+, MTA, ITIL
