Essential Function:
This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining Triton College's campus-wide panic alarm system (Help Alert), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and access control infrastructure (Lenel OnGuard).
Key duties include:
  • Ensuring all Help Alert pendants are functional and in communication with the Triton College Police Department (TCPD), with routine battery replacements and device management.
  • Maintaining and updating APC and Tripp Lite UPS systems, including battery monitoring and firmware updates.
  • Managing the Lenel OnGuard access control system: filling key fob access requests, troubleshooting hardware issues, and replacing batteries in electronic locks throughout campus.

In addition, the technician is expected to actively engage with Triton's Network Services team to build their knowledge of campus wide network infrastructure. This includes shadowing staff, participating in troubleshooting tasks, and assisting with port testing and fieldwork. EDUCATION:
1. Associate's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical field (e.g., IT support, AV systems, networking, or electronics).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain the Help Alert panic alarm system:
  • Replace batteries and devices as needed.
  • Ensure daily system functionality and communication with TCPD.

Maintain UPS systems across campus:
  • Check battery status and replace as needed.
  • Perform firmware updates on APC and Tripp Lite devices.
  • Keep detailed maintenance and inventory records.

Managing the Lenel OnGuard access control system:

โ€ข Maintaining battery-powered door locks across campus.
โ€ข Troubleshoot with vendor when needed.
Assist the Network Services team with:
  • Port testing and physical troubleshooting.

Productively shadow and learn from full-time network team members.

Support other duties as needed to assist the Network Services and IT team.
