Duties include:

  • Researching, designing, implementing and troubleshooting Blue Ridge Internet, Phone and IP Video solutions along with core Networking and Security
    • DOCSIS, PON/FTTH, Cisco, Calix, Harmonic, Palo Alto, eero, etc.
  • Deploying and configuring network equipment
    • Cisco, Calix, Harmonic, Palo Alto, Servers and VMWare
  • Providing a high level of technical understandingof Blue Ridge deployed technologies and services
  • Interacting with hardware and software vendors for technical support when required and using escalation standards and personal judgment to ensure the timely resolution of issues
  • Providing training and support for employees
  • Accepting and resolving escalated trouble tickets from our Level II Tech Support
  • Managing time-sensitive projects effectively and efficiently
  • Participating in weekly On-Call shift rotation
  • Other duties as assigned


    Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

    • Degree in Networking Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications OR 5-10 years of industry experience
    • Established residency in Pennsylvania
    • Valid PA Driver's License and good driving record
    • Experience with Cisco and service provider hardware and software
      • Cisco Swithching/Routing/CMTS, Calix,PON, Harmonic DOCSIS/PON, Palo Alto
    • Experience with Windows Server, Linux and Unix (Solaris) Operating Systems
    • Thorough knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols
      • Understanding TCP/IP, VLANs, VRFs, EVPN, BGP and OSFP
    • Network Technology Fundamentals and experience with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and IOS-XR
    • Cisco CCNA and/or CCNP Certifications or equivalent
    • Exceptional Communication Skills - Oral and Written
    • Excellent Troubleshooting skills
    • Excellent Organization & Time Management Skills
    • Availability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during off-work hours and/or extended hours to ensure project/outage needs are addressed
    • Ability to learn all aspects of our Networking Engineering and Operations responsibilities, including Optical and RF design, as well as IP Video solution architecture


    Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

    • Understanding of HFC Cable Plant, RF Spectrum, and Cable Provider Headend configuration
    • Understanding of DOCSIS standards, CMTS, and Cable Modems
    • Understanding of Calix and/or Harmonic XGS-PON solutions and architecture
    • Computer scripting skills for routine task automation: Python, Ansible
    • Understanding key aspects of Network Security, including Risk Assessment and Security Policies
    • Experience with various security tools, system logs, and packet captures, including Syslog, XDR, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and Vulnerability scanners
    • Experience with Firewall principles and Access Lists
