Job description

Location: Barksdale AFB, LA
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week, onsite

Dark Horse Technologies is seeking an experienced IT Technical Support Specialist to provide onsite technology support for the U.S. Air Force Base Training and Education Services (BTES) organization at Barksdale AFB.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on hardware, software, network, server, SharePoint, database, and peripheral support while maintaining IT equipment accountability, supporting cybersecurity requirements, and assisting users with day-to-day technology needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hardware and software support for desktops, testing computers, servers, printers, switches, routers, and other peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computer, network, software, and equipment issues.
  • Install and configure new hardware, software, workstations, and network equipment.
  • Maintain and update the BTES SharePoint site.
  • Support network architecture, cabling, diagrams, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Maintain and upgrade databases and support secure data migration.
  • Maintain IT equipment inventories and execute computer/peripheral refresh schedules.
  • Support video surveillance systems, including servers, switches, cameras, and software.
  • Support DETN satellite/distance-learning systems and QOLNET network operations.
  • Implement appropriate information security safeguards and follow Air Force computer/network security requirements.
  • Train and assist personnel with software, systems, and security procedures.
  • Recommend technology upgrades and improvements to Education Center leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • 25 years of hardware and software application support experience.
  • Current CompTIA A+ certification.
  • Current CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11 Enterprise and Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge of Air Force computer/network security regulations.
  • Experience with standard network and electronic equipment installation practices.
  • At least one year of relevant professional or volunteer experience within the last two years.
  • Strong customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of foreign language and Professional Military Education (PME) testing.
  • Ability to meet Barksdale AFB access and National Agency Check requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous DoD or Air Force IT support experience.
