A Sr. Network Architect is responsible for designing, planning, and guiding the evolution of an organization’s enterprise network infrastructure. This role ensures that network solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with both business objectives and technology strategy.


This individual partners closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and leadership to translate requirements into well-architected solutions, leveraging industry standards and enterprise architecture frameworks. The role also plays a key part in driving modernization efforts by identifying opportunities for automation, AI-enabled operations, and continuous improvement across the network ecosystem.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, standards, specifications, and reference models
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing network architectures
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic enhancements
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date “as-built” documentation
  • Provide architectural guidance across IT initiatives and service lifecycle processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, refine, and validate technical and business requirements
  • Present architectural designs, recommendations, and tradeoffs to leadership
  • Support implementation teams to ensure alignment with approved architectural standards
  • Apply enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, LeanIX or similar) to support governance and lifecycle management
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of network standards, policies, and best practices
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for security, resiliency, compliance, and performance
  • Identify opportunities to automate network operations and improve efficiency
  • Support the integration of AI-assisted capabilities within the network ecosystem


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience in network engineering, design, or architecture roles
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise network environments (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, wireless, VPNs, firewalls)
  • Experience with cloud networking across major platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, and QoS
  • Deep knowledge of network security principles and technologies
  • Experience working in large, distributed enterprise environments preferred


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or cloud networking certifications
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and supporting platforms (e.g., LeanIX or similar)
  • Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell)
  • Exposure to AIOps or AI-driven network management platforms
  • ITIL 4 certification (Foundation or higher)
  • Proficiency with architecture and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart or similar)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
