Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Computer Aided Modeling (CAM) Engineer - Level 2 to join our diverse and talented engineering organization in Colorado Springs, CO in support of our National Defense as part of our radar system development programs. Join an exciting and diverse organization as we embark on solving complex and novel engineering challenges. As the CAD/CAM engineer you will support the technical engineering drawing and drafting team to develop and maintain the radar systems configuration baseline and support technical data. The successful candidate should be detailed oriented, be able to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined teams, and have a proven track record of accurately documenting and maintaining a configuration baseline.

In this job, you will:

  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation

  • Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning

  • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

  • Support the overall Production Lifecycle Management System

  • Other duties as assigned

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters

  • Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling software packages, including NX, Creo, and/or SolidWorks

  • Experience with the generation and creation of engineering drawings compliant with ASME standards

  • Experience with Illustration Software packages, including Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and Adobe Fresco

  • Experience with Indentured part list generation and drawing tree levels of indenture

  • Experience with establishment and maintaining system configuration baseline

  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, analysis, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

  • Experience with production lifecycle management systems to manage product and CAD data such as Siemens Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, or ARAS

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Able to focus on the micro and macro details of a complex system of systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance current and within scope

  • Bachelors of Science

  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter for managing products and CAD data

  • Experience working to conclusion design drawings and specifications across the entire product development life cycle

  • Experience/knowledge working design verification and verification reporting

  • Experience designing and modeling mechanical hardware interfaces (such as mounting bracketry)

  • Experience with cable management and cable assembly requirements for RF and fiber optic applications

  • Experience with integrated electrical systems setup, testing and issue resolution

  • Knowledge of test design and execution

  • Work experience in a government contracting environment

  • Experience in USAF/DoD radar systems

  • Experience with utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) drafting assistants to generate 3D models from text prompts

  • Experience with USAF Technical Orders

  • Experience with AGILE, SCRUM, & DevOps

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
