Job Description:
About the role:
A Senior Lab Administrator (Sr. Admin) is a highly experienced caretaker of the labs. A Sr. Admin can close a large number of tickets without help or supervision, and may be responsible for entire lab(s). A Sr. Admin should be people that Lab Admins go to for help and advice, and be a mentor to them.
Sr. Admins must also be able to support existing and create new software tools for the labs. A strong knowledge of the following is required:
  • UNIX (FreeBSD)
  • Linux (RHEL/CentOS)
  • PERL/Python
  • TCP/IP
  • VMware ESX Administration

Duties and Responsibilities:
A Sr. Admin performs much or the same tasks as a Lab Admin, however they have a deeper understanding of why such a thing is done, as opposed to just what must be done.
Tasks for a Sr. Admin include but are not limited to:
  • Installation of network and/or computer equipment
  • Software re-installation of lab devices
  • Adding new devices to our database system
  • Troubleshooting and replacing of broken hardware
  • Building or changing topologies between devices, and documenting the changes
  • Building and deploying Virtual Machines (using Proxmox or ESX vCenter)

Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience within the labs is required to be considered for such a position.
  • Certifications are plus:
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer
  • Juniper Networks Certified Associate
  • Juniper Networks Certified Specialist
  • VMWare Certified Associate
