To support of our Thunder Bay office, we are seeking an OpenRoads Specialist / CAD Designer to join our team.  In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of transportation projects by providing advanced design and drafting support using Bentley OpenRoads Designer and related CAD technologies.

Working alongside engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in developing high-quality design models and construction drawings that support projects from planning through detailed design and construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain 3D corridor models, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and surface models using Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
  • Produce detailed design drawings and engineering deliverables for transportation, roadways, highways, municipal infrastructure, and site development projects.
  • Prepare construction contract drawings, quantities, and design documentation.
  • Support design coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ensure drafting standards, project specifications, and quality requirements are consistently met.
  • Perform design reviews and quality checks on CAD models and drawing packages.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of CAD standards, workflows, and best practices.
  • Support project teams during design development, tendering, and construction phases.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve technical design challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in civil, municipal, transportation, or infrastructure design and drafting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
  • Strong working knowledge of MicroStation.
  • Experience developing roadway corridor models, terrain models, alignments, profiles, and cross-sections.
  • Experience preparing detailed engineering and construction drawing packages.
  • Understanding of transportation design standards and engineering drafting practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Ontario transportation or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with MTO standards and design practices.
  • Experience with Bentley ProjectWise.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS platforms is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary consulting environment.

Pay range: $65,000 to $94,000

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
