Advanced Production and Automation is seeking a Manufacturing Systems and Simulation MP&P Engineer - Modeling & Simulation (Mid-Level or Lead) for the Production System Modeling, Simulation & Analysis team in North Charleston, SC.

The chosen candidate will support the Production System Modeling, Simulation & Analysis team. We are an engineering team which is responsible for creating and implementing technical solutions that drive innovation into the aircraft production process. This team begins with ideas and concepts and delivers implementable hardware/software/industrial robotics solutions that support multiple programs across Boeing's platforms. We also lead non-program specific research and development efforts for our government customers in alignment with External Technical Associations.

The chosen candidate will be motivated, self-driven and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will work in a team environment to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. The candidate will support various projects, including research, test, development, and implementation for the Production System Modeling, Simulation & Analysis team 100% in-person. Some of the work we perform may take us to locations outside of the South Carolina area. Therefore, there will be times when business travel is required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and design for software systems, automated hardware systems, and industrial robotics
  • Develop and maintain code and integrate software components into a fully functional software system
  • Perform engineering activities including development, integration, and testing of automated hardware systems
  • Influence, innovate and continuously improve the engineering processes as well as the quality, safety and reliability of our products and services
  • Collaborate proactively with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand operational and performance expectations
  • Support agile project management, project estimation, and planning
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and work with new technologies
  • Cultivate a positive team culture

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years of industry experience in aerospace or large-scale manufacturing
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of experience in programming and integrating automated manufacturing equipment, including CNC, PLC, and robotic systems, leveraging CAD/CAM and real-time software development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skilled in applying data modeling techniques and tools to translate complex business processes into scalable data architectures
  • In-depth knowledge of cross-functional engineering workflows and their influence on manufacturing, logistics, and business operations
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information across electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to support product lifecycle activities
  • Proven ability to drive process innovation and system integration initiatives that optimize manufacturing schedules, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
  • Competent in full software development lifecycle within manufacturing environments, delivering integrated solutions from engineering design through production deployment
  • Strong collaborator with internal and external stakeholders to ensure automation systems meet evolving operational requirements and performance standards
  • Experience with manufacturing assembly knowledge, GD&T, process engineering, drilling and fastening, metrology, linear algebra, geometry, numerical methods, 3D geometry, and computational methods
  • Experience with database development, C# ASP.NET CORE MVC, C# ASP.NET CORE Blazor, software development best practices, clean code, Python, C++, Linux and Cloud Development, .NET Core framework, C# ASP.NET CORE MVC
