Job description

Our corporate office in Rohnert Park, CA has an immediate opening for an experienced IT Technology Specialist person with an upbeat approachable attitude. As a Technology / Help Desk Specialist, you will be required to provide technical support to the staff, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and support multiple operating systems and software applications. In addition, this position will work closely with the rest of the IT support team to identify and resolve technical issues that arise. Work with the programming team to perform various tests to identify and resolve bugs and defects in software.

To ensure success as a help desk specialist, you should have advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware systems, excellent diagnostic skills, and high-level communication skills. A skilled help desk specialist provides fast and effective support over the phone, video, and in person.

  • The focus of the position is to assist with installation and support of hardware and software at all the company locations. Assist the IT Department by providing support to resolve software and hardware problems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving hardware and software problems. Resolve problems quickly and effectively, minimizing downtime and ensuring that staff can continue to work without interruption.
  • Performing various tests to identify and resolve issues and bugs in software products: Collaborating with the programming team to assess and debug software products before they are deployed or implemented.
  • Walk customer through problem-solving process.
  • Conducting routine patching and system maintenance such as applying software updates, monitoring system performance, and managing backups.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT infrastructure from potential threats, such as malware, viruses, and hackers.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and new technologies. This can involve attending conferences or workshops, reading technical blogs and articles, or participating in online communities to share knowledge and learn from others.
  • Work closely with the rest of the IT team, including developers, engineers, to ensure that the IT systems are robust, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved.
  • Responds to telephone calls, email, and personnel requests for technical support from local and remote customers.
  • Run reports to determine malfunctions that continue to occur.
  • Performs other assignments from time to time as requested by Supervisor or Manager to achieve department and company business goals.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

  • High school diploma or equivalent credential required.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a similar role.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting system issues, providing system support, and conducting routine patching and maintenance.
  • Experience in software testing, quality assurance, or development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience communicating technical issues and solutions to technical and non-technical team members in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to collaborate and build trusting internal relationships. Must be able to build relationships required to enable teamwork.
  • Must have Citrix experience.
  • Must have Network Configuration experience.
  • Proficient with Active Directory
  • Knowledge of VMware is a plus.
  • Knowledge of VEAME and Netapp storage systems is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Exchange, MS Server
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, internet/email, Excel.
  • Must be creative, proactive, motivated, enthusiastic, and driven.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and well organized.
  • Willingness to approach projects with a can-do attitude and create reasonable process where none exists; adept to finding solutions to tough problems.
  • Must be willing to travel to other company locations.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in computer science or relevant experience in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies, such as Microsoft, Cisco, or CompTIA.
  • Advanced computer proficiency.
  • CompTIA A+ Computer Troubleshooting Certification (preferred)
  • Strong customer service skills.
