SUMMARY:

Systems Engineer II is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the organization's PDM system, focused on ensuring engineering security, lifecycle processes, and data integrity. This critical role governs PDM vault standards, manages system configurations, troubleshoots issues, and acts as a liaison with internal teams, and external vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and system functionality. Oversees CAD standards, SolidWorks templates, and the engineering SharePoint site with ownership of process documentation related to CAD, PDM, PLM, and data management. 

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of engineering processes, SQL databases, and CAD systems, especially SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM. Familiarity with Windows client and server operating systems, as well as advanced troubleshooting abilities, is essential. Perform system upgrades, installations, and hardware recommendations while minimizing production downtime.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain product data management (PDM) system for the organization, focusing on engineering security and lifecycle processes for all Spartan brands.
  • Provide PDM vault governance and standards
  • Maintain PDM system and output to onsite data consumers of engineering related CAD data information.
  • Maintain PDM system web access for supplier data consumers of engineering related CAD data.
  • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot issues with PDM archive servers and database servers
  • Configure and maintain all CAD templates
  • Troubleshoot SolidWorks and PDM issues and escalate to value added reseller if necessary; track internal and external support tickets to their completion and effectively communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Work with value added resellers on all things (but not limited to) SolidWorks, PDM, DriveWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, SolidWorks Simulation, AutoCAD, support tickets, support services, license renewals, etc.
  • Work with IT on client and server hardware requirements and provide recommendations
  • Perform upgrades of engineering software with minimal effect on users and production downtime.  Work with IT on installation methods and pre-upgrade testing.
  • Create and maintain SolidWorks admin images and install scripts.
  • Provide support and guidance to local engineering managers on training plans
  • Manage engineering SharePoint site
  • Take ownership of all engineering process documents related to CAD, PDM, PLM and data management.
  • Manage CAD standards, provide updates to engineering management, and maintain the CADD Standards Manual.
  • Ensure the highest level of overall system availability

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree Required, Bachelor Degree Preferred 
  • Must have SolidWorks PDM Experience/Knowledge 
  • Familiar with engineering processes and systems
  • Experience with SQL databases
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems and how they function, specifically SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
  • Working knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
