Job Overview

As a Lead Systems Administrator, you will serve as a senior systems administration professional responsible for the planning, implementation, administration, security, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise information systems and infrastructure. You will act as a subject matter expert, provide technical leadership, and collaborate with program managers, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and customers to support operational and organizational objectives.

This position offers the opportunity to lead enterprise technology initiatives, influence infrastructure strategies, and support high-visibility programs that directly impact mission success.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise information systems, servers, operating systems, and infrastructure components
  • Develop and implement system administration strategies, standards, and best practices
  • Monitor and evaluate system availability, performance, capacity, and security
  • Plan and implement system upgrades, technology refreshes, migrations, and modernization initiatives
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system, infrastructure, and operational issues
  • Lead system installation, configuration, integration, and deployment activities
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations capabilities
  • Implement and maintain security configurations, system hardening measures, and access control mechanisms
  • Evaluate infrastructure requirements and recommend solutions that improve performance, reliability, scalability, and security
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system architecture information
  • Coordinate with engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to support system lifecycle activities
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, organizational policies, cybersecurity standards, and industry best practices
  • Investigate major incidents, outages, and service disruptions and lead resolution efforts
  • Prepare technical recommendations, reports, briefings, and status updates for management and customers
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to systems administrators and technical personnel

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Ten (10) years of experience in systems administration, network administration, information technology support, infrastructure administration, or a related technical field
  • Advanced knowledge of systems administration principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of server, storage, virtualization, and operating system technologies
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure design, implementation, and support
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, access control management, and system hardening practices
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and continuity planning processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and operational issues
  • Ability to evaluate system performance and develop recommendations for improvement
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
