As we expand our hybrid learning model, we are seeking aย Department Chairย to provide leadership for our Computer Technology programs in information technology, cybersecurity, and computer science.ย 

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of applied technology education while supporting faculty and programs that serve adult learners developing real-world, career-ready skills.ย 

Position Overviewย ย 

The Department Chair for Computer Technology provides academic and operational leadership to support programs, faculty, and students within the department.ย 

This role is designed for an experienced faculty leader withย expertiseย in online and hybrid instruction, academic operations, and a strong student-centered approach. The Chair works closely with the Associate Dean and School of Technology leadership to oversee faculty engagement, course quality, and program operations.ย As a member of the faculty, this role has teaching responsibilities commensurate with the scale and scope of the size of the department.ย 

The position combines academicย instruction,ย leadership, faculty support, and program coordination to ensure excellence and consistency across Computer Technology offerings.ย 

Keyย Responsibilitiesย 

Department Leadership andย Operationsย 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for Computer Technology facultyย 
  • Oversee term-based operations, including course scheduling, faculty assignments, and textbook coordinationย 
  • Support faculty onboarding, training, and communication to ensure instructional quality and consistencyย 
  • Participate in departmental, school-level, and university initiatives, committees, and special projectsย 

Program Quality & Curriculum Oversightย 

  • Monitor course quality and coordinate updates and improvements in collaboration with Instructional Design and Development (IDD)ย 
  • Support course development, revisions, and alignment with program outcomes and workforce needsย ย 
  • Contribute to program review, assessment reporting, and continuous improvement effortsย ย ย ย 
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standardsย 

Faculty Support & Student Successย 

  • Guide faculty in delivering high-quality online and hybrid instruction aligned withย Universityย standardsย ย 
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators, including course evaluations, grading patterns, and student success metricsย ย ย 
  • Promote effective teaching practices that support engagement, retention, and academic success among adult learnersย ย ย 

Faculty Responsibilitiesย 

  • Teaching responsibilities within university-established workload modelย 
  • Maintain a scholarly agenda in alignment with university and college and strategic prioritiesย 
  • Engage department faculty in university and community service activities as appropriateย 

Required Qualifications:ย 

  • Doctoralย degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related fieldย 
  • Professional experience in a relevant technical field, with industry certifications preferredย 
  • Minimum of 5 years of higher education teaching experienceย 
  • Progressive administrative experienceย 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skillsย 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independentlyย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • Prior leadership or administrative experience in higher educationย 
  • Demonstrated experience in online and/or hybrid instructional environmentsย 
  • Experience with course development, assessment,ย andย accreditation processesย 
  • Strongย track recordย of promoting student success using evidence-based decision-making to support the quality improvement of academic programs, curriculum, and faculty.ย ย ย ย 
  • Demonstrated experience with the recruitment,ย selection, evaluation, development, and mentoring of facultyย 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in curriculum and faculty supportย

Work Environmentย

The hiring salary range for this position is $97,500 - $107,000. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.ย
