Job description

Job Summary

Acting as a critical technical resource and coordinator, the Junior Project Engineer will support the existing engineering and project management teams in the development, tracking, and successful execution of complex industrial battery system projects. This role serves as a key liaison to bridge the gap between technical execution and project management, helping align project schedules, coordinate cross-functional internal teams, track manufacturing readiness, and manage technical deviations in a regulated, hardware-focused engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities & Contribution Areas

  • Support the project management team in aligning and updating detailed project schedules, monitoring critical path milestones, and tracking deliverables.
  • Facilitate active coordination and communication across internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Production, Quality, and Sales, to ensure alignment on customer requirements and project timelines.
  • Support engineering development from prototype design phases through to manufacturing preparation and full-scale production readiness.
  • Assist in administering First Article Inspection (FAI) packages, engineering change notices (ECN), and technical deviation documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining project-specific action items logs, engineering documentation binders, and generating regular project progress updates for project managers.
  • Collaborate on quality reviews, ensuring technical decisions and schedules satisfy both cost constraints and HOPPECKE quality standards.

Candidate Qualifications & Education

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related engineering discipline).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of hardware engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and project workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple internal teams.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple overlapping tasks and meet strict deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, co-op, or project-based engineering experience in a manufacturing or hardware-focused team.
  • Experience or familiarity with project coordination, schedule alignment, and project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and/or electrical drawing packages (CAD, schematic layouts).
  • Exposure to project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent scheduling software).
