Hardware Engineer - Print Production
What does a successful Hardware Engineer do at Fiserv?
As a Hardware Engineer in Hazelwood, MO, you will be responsible for the process flow of the infrastructure between secured upstream data, to our high-speed/high-volume production printing equipment. You will partner closely with the Technical Engineering, Operations, IT, and Security teams to ensure reliable connectivity between networks, servers, and commercial mailroom equipment. Your work enables secure, efficient document workflows that support critical print-on-demand communications to be delivered in a timely fashion.
What you will do:
  • Research market and technology trends to identify improvements in production workflows, downtime reduction, and maintenance repair efficiency.
  • Design, implement, and maintain print management platforms to optimize workflows to allow for quick resolution of connectivity and driver issues for sensitive print jobs.
  • Maintain industrial-scale printing and mail insertion equipment by means of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Analyze production performance data and failure rates to improve hardware performance and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Use Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based tools and logs to monitor device health, performance, and alerts, taking proactive action to minimize production downtime.
  • Collaborate with commercial print and publishing, packaging, and managed IT services stakeholders to design and validate end-to-end print solutions that meet performance and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with OEM vendors regarding installation, configuration, and implementation of new production and network hardware. Also In-person and phone consultation to troubleshoot and maintain application compliance for production and network hardware.

Experience you will need to have:
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration in environments integrating enterprise networks with production printing systems or similar infrastructure.
  • 3+ years of experience working with digital print devices (such as HP, Canon, Xerox, Ricoh) and associated print software in a commercial or enterprise setting.
  • Experience implementing and supporting print management platforms (for example, PaperCut, UniFlow, PrinterLogic) and Raster Image Processors (RIPs) to enable efficient print job flow.
  • Experience with core networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN configuration, and firewall management in corporate IT environments.
  • A comprehensive understanding of PCI/PII compliance and data security.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and experience with AC/DC electrical tools & applications to troubleshoot and maintain industry-scale production machines and componentry.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Recommended experience:
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting complex production hardware in a print or mail operations environment with IP5000, HP roll-to-roll printers, and Ricoh cut sheet printers.
  • Experience with secure printing implementations in regulated environments (such as financial services, healthcare, or government).
  • Experience with scripting or automation (such as PowerShell or Python) to streamline print and network administration tasks.

How you will work:
  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experience helps you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
  • This role requires flexibility to work on-call, including weekends and holidays.
  • This role requires the ability to stand for a majority of the shift; safely lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; lift above your shoulders; and climb, squat, kneel, twist, push, and bend frequently during each shift.
