Job Description:

Position Summary:

Operates all computer aided design (CAD) system and peripheral equipment and exercises considerable skill in the use of graphics commands and preprogrammed material to develop drawings. Maintain accurate sequencing and meeting all scheduling deadlines. Collaborate with the team to deliver a quality product.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine to complex assignments requiring a thorough knowledge of computer aided drafting system standards, practices, and techniques
  • Develop increased proficiency in system operation with a resulting increase in productivity, and learns how to use all software options
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine best approach to complete drawings
  • Apply judgement and makes decisions with respect to drawings and input interpretation
  • Review work performed to determine accuracy with input from supervisor
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
  • Develop increased proficiency in system operations with a resulting increase in productivity
  • Develop cabinet layouts, designs and renderings as required by clients and co-workers
  • Review cabinetry orders for accuracy and oversee timely deliveries
  • Communicate effectively with team members, sub-contractors
  • Communicate delays or issues to supervisor while finding ways to improve
  • Ensure extreme attention to detail and quality control
  • Provide safety and technical support to team members assigned to the Mill Shop
  • Process submittals and shop drawings
  • Maintain Request for Information (RFI) log

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong Microsoft skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret full construction document sets
  • Strong problem-solving skills in active construction environments
  • Must be able to plan tasks
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of design standards

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in engineering or drafting technology or equivalent combination of formal education and training experience.
  • 2-5+ years of CAD or construction coordination experience preferred
  • Commercial construction experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Regular interaction with active construction sites
  • Ability to walk jobs, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate uneven surfaces
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally more.
  • Must be able to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods
