Job description

UX Graphics Designer

Reports to: Graphics & Design Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Overview:

The UX Designer is responsible for creating intuitive, user-centered experiences. This role bridges the gap between customer vision and production reality - translating complex business needs and user insights into elegant, functional designs. The ideal candidate combines a strong foundation in UX methodology with an understanding of card manufacturing processes and the ability to communicate visually and persuasively with both internal teams and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with external customers who have limited design concepts or no established vision, guiding them through the design process to realize their goals for card products intended for the marketplace.
  • Translate customer briefs, brand guidelines, and business requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that communicate design intent clearly.
  • Facilitate collaborative design sessions using whiteboarding, journey mapping, and co-design techniques to build customer alignment and buy-in.
  • Prepare and review production-ready design files, including preflight checks, color correction, proof generation, and application to pre-set templates.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all design files handed off for production, adhering to prepress procedures for digital and non-digital printing workflows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, print production teams, and clients to ensure design solutions are technically feasible and aligned with brand standards.
  • Maintain and evolve design systems, style guides, and UX standards to ensure consistency across all customer touchpoints.
  • Utilize AI-assisted design tools to accelerate iteration and prototyping while maintaining a human-centered focus throughout the design process.

Other Important Responsibilities

  • Timely corrective action response and resolution to relevant project situations.
  • Engage and support companywide Safety and Housekeeping Programs.
  • Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of professional UX design experience, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • Experience working in or with a print production or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and prototyping platforms.
  • Solid understanding of digital prepress processes, color management, color correction, and proof generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct user research, develop personas, and translate insights into actionable design decisions.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
  • Familiarity with compliance and security considerations relevant to card manufacturing (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO standards) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy across both UX and production deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and defend design decisions to varied audiences.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, client feedback, and production requirements.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or front-end development concepts is a plus for developer handoff.

Physical requirements and work environment:

  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs;
  • Must be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following:
    • Sitting in an office chair
    • Typing
    • Reaching for the telephone
    • Standing at office equipment
    • Hearing for phone use
