Command and Control Test Engineer - Mid-Level
LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL
JOB STATUS: Full-time
CLEARANCE: Secret
TRAVEL: 30%
Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Command and Control Test Engineer located at Eglin AFB, FL.
Our tactical integration Command and Control team is searching for new test engineer professionals that can help us design and execute test events. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, learning new technology areas, this is the place for you. We provide several opportunities to learn ranging from on-the-job training with other team members to formal courses for unique technology areas.
We realize that no one will have all of these qualifications. We are looking for people that have a system engineering foundation and have the drive and motivation to learn all other required areas. Position responsibilities can span from customized test configurations to lab infrastructure support. This position provides support to the 46 Test Squadron at Eglin AFB as a member of a Command and Control (C2) Element.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field and 3 - 10 years of relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • An active Secret Clearance adjudicated within the past five years with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Familiar with DoD Joint Fires Coordination systems and concepts.
  • Experience with Command and Control/Battle Management Systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
  • Able to travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations, CONUS and OCONUS, up to 30% of the time.
  • Strong work ethic; Comfortable working in a team with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Experience with Internet Protocol (IP), Line of Sight (LOS), and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) tactical data links.
  • Experience with GPS systems.
  • Familiar with ABADS-MD and TOC Family of Systems CONOPS.
  • Familiar with C-sUAS tactics.
  • Technical knowledge of DoD radar sensor and sensor formats.
  • Familiar with Army Long Range Persistent Surveillance (ALPS) and/or Marine Expeditionary Long-range Persistent Surveillance (MELPS).
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems.Proficient/familiar with various High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryption (HAIPE) encryption devices including KG-175F/N.
  • Security+, CompTIA certifications, etc.
  • Understanding of DT&E processes, specifically acquisition program development and detailed knowledge of Air Force Command and Control (C2) test methodologies including AFI 99-103, Capabilities based Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E).
  • Knowledge of data analysis and system application software development concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate emerging technologies in a DT&E environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform as a member of the 46 TS C2, Test Team.
  • Interface directly with System Program Offices, other services, Joint Battle Labs, product development contractors, and Field Service Representatives.
  • Plan, execute, and report on Command and Control systems/equipment/protocols that employ Air Base Air Defense Systems
  • Test and evaluation for battle management systems.
  • Proficient with radar fundamentals, sensors, apertures, receivers, signal processors, transceivers, and data format types.
  • Familiar with radar operations and electronic counter measures.
  • Familiar with various radios networks and tactical datalinks.
  • Familiar with various network, compute, and/or routing/switch devices to include Cisco, Juniper, etc.
  • Engage in technical engineering roles, review customer requirements, and participate in test planning.
  • Perform engineering roles, review customer requirements and participate in test planning.
  • Develop and manage test plans and procedures, schedules, execute a test within the constraints of customer requirements, and produce timely test reports.
  • Capable of performing as a team member in the planning and execution of "system of system" testing.
